A new .hack series is out and Bandai Namco is there to make it interactive!
A new .hack series is currently airing in Japan and Bandai Namco is prepared to bring it to the PS2. Although the series is not currently stateside, with the publication of this title it may happen sooner then you think.
Bandai Namco took a new approach to this title then the previous 4 volumes they released. The visuals are now a mix between 3D realisticness and moderate anime texture mapping. It creates a different look that mixes a FFX style with an anime appearance.
The controls are still a little loose at this point, but the game still has a way to go before its complete. Also combat consists just of mashing X at this time, but hopefully in the months ahead these things will change and be improved upon. I did like the inclusion of bike, allowing the player to travel faster throughout the world, and also the absence of random enemy encounters is nice.
.hack G.U. has some polishing up to do but it is a ways off before launch date, this is emphasized by the short demo that was on the showfloor. This also means any feedback they hear, there is enough time to work it into the game. The start has areas of promise and I look forward to seeing the outcome of this title. The Advanced Media Network will have more information on .hack//G.U. Vol.1//Rebirth in the weeks ahead.
