January 12, 2007

by: James Jursudakul

The two North American released KID visual novel titles may be unavailable after August 2007.

The January 11, 2007 edition of Hirameki's "Ask Aoyama" section has provided a slight update on KID's bankruptcy situation in Japan. Hirameki has been unable to contact KID through various attempts since their collapse at the beginning of December 2006 and therefore it is, at the time being, unclear whether Hirameki will be able to renew their sales license for Ever 17 -The Out of Infinity- and Ai Yori Aoshi. In addition, Aoyama-san also notes that because KID's production team was dissolved on December 1, 2006 it may difficult for Hirameki to provide technical support for their two KID produced titles.

As was reported earlier, the licenses for Hirameki's two North American released KID titles: Ever 17 -The Out of Infinity- and Ai Yori Aoshi are contracted to expire in August 2007. Provided the license cannot not get renewed, sales distribution for both titles will have to cease in North America.
