AX 2007: Live report from the Broccoli Panel in Long Beach! More Disgaea licenses!

The following in a report of the Broccoli USA Panel at Anime Expo 2007 on June 29, 2007 from 4:30 - 5:30 pm.

The panel is hosted by Suzuki Yamashita, the director of operations of Broccoli International.

The company basically started the panel by going over /introducing their recent releases, such as the Koge Donbo title that was released earlier this month - Kon Kon Kokon, and the more recent Coyote Ragtime Show manga.

Upcoming releases they went over are E'S Volume 3, which is scheduled for a July 11, 2007 release.

My Dearest Devil Princess is set for an August 2007 release; the company describes it as a lot like Oh! My Goddess. . . but with a devil. "A very cute romantic comedy that's very fan-servicey."

Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories Volume 2 is actually on sale here at Anime Expo 2007, but it's set for a July 2007 release.

Boysenberry Books - Broccoli's new Shonen-ai / yaoi line is set to debut later this year.

As for new announcements, Broccoli will be releasing The World of Disgaea 2 Artbook. There is currently no release date set, however.

Broccoli has also acquired the license for the first Disgaea Novel; this will also be the company's first foray into the light novel scene.

Question and Answer Summary

- The Juvenile Orion Box was worked on with The Borders Group (Borders Bookstores), whom were willing to carry the box, thereby using up more shelf space. Broccoli would love to do mroe boxes and extras, but it depends on how the retailers will receive it.

- Broccoli Japan has some other anime set in the Juvenile Orion world in the works. Casting auditions has started - or so the panel speaker believes.

- There are a lot of female readers for the Galaxy Angel series, according to the questionnaires that were sent in to Broccoli USA.
